About the event
The Central Area Senior Center invites the community to join us for Juneteenth: A Black Independence Celebration on Friday, June 19, from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM. This special celebration honors the rich history, resilience, culture, and contributions of Black Americans through an uplifting afternoon of storytelling, music, education, and community connection. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming guests of all ages to come together in the spirit of remembrance, joy, and unity.
This year’s program will feature an exciting lineup of special guests and performances including Josephine Howell, Erika Evans, City of Seattle Attorney General; Joy Hollingsworth, Seattle City Council President; Karol Brown as historical storyteller “Aunt Harriet Tubman”; Whiz Posse: Juneteenth Edition by Alfrieda Lanier; The Central Area Sliders; Calvin West, Voices of Freedom; and more.
